Our Mission

Civil Democracy

The UnBossed Project is a political organization inspired by the trailblazing legacy of Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and the first to seek a major party’s nomination for President. True to her motto, "Unbought and Unbossed," the project is dedicated to supporting and empowering candidates, particularly women and Black women, running for federal office. The organization engages in voter education, advocacy, and mobilization efforts to promote civil democracy, fight voter suppression, and continue Chisholm’s fearless advocacy for social justice, equality, and political empowerment.

Our Vision

We envision a political environment where every voice is heard, and every person, regardless of their background, can lead and make a difference. Our work is driven by the passion and determination of our community, united in the pursuit of justice and equality.

Our Approach

Empowerment: We provide resources, training, and support to Democratic candidates, ensuring they have the tools they need to run successful campaigns.

Diversity: We actively seek out and support candidates from diverse backgrounds, understanding that a truly representative civil democracy includes voices from all walks of life.

Advocacy: Our commitment to civil rights and social justice is at the heart of everything we do. We champion policies and initiatives that promote equality and fight against systemic injustices.

Community Engagement: We believe in the power of community. By mobilizing volunteers, engaging with voters, and fostering grassroots support, we work together to drive meaningful change.
